Mary & Peter

My late husband, Peter Pope Jones, and I purchased a rambling Mexican home and invested three years creating Casa de Colores – The Best Little Guesthouse in Mexico. We traveled throughout Mexico collecting unique art and tile to create an authentic, welcoming haven for travelers to Guanajuato. Our “grand opening,” scheduled for March 2020, was significantly delayed by Covid and its travel bans.

Following the delayed opening, however, this has become the successful guest house we visualized -- with positive reviews on all the internet hotel listing platforms.

After Peter’s recent death, my priorities have changed, and it’s time for me to release this project of passion for someone else to love and nurture.

Casa de Colores could also be an amazing, move-in-ready, family home – with its main casita/apartment/master-suite having a full kitchen, living area, and spectacular views -- plus five additional bedrooms, each with en-suite toilet/shower and hand-held bidets. Everyone can share the main kitchen, spacious living areas, indoor courtyard, and rooftop patio (party central!) with cooking facilities. We totally remodeled the property, adding new plumbing and an abundance of grounded electrical outlets (both features -- unusual in Mexican properties).

If you are considering a move to Mexico, Casa de Colores, in Colonia Pastita, one of the oldest neighborhoods of Guanajuato, is only a 15-minutes stroll into Centro with all its restaurants and activities (and noise) yet far enough away for a good night’s sleep.
